1904

January 1

Haiti celebrates one hundred years of independence.

1908-1911

President Nord Alexis withdraws as Chief Executive and is replaced by Antoine Simon, appointed President by the Constituent Assembly. Two and a half years later, President Antoine Simon cedes the Presidential seat to Cincinnatus Leconte, a descendant of Dessalines.

1912

January 30

  The Haitian Federation of Soccer is created.

August 5

The Haytian American Sugar Company (HASCO) is created asa corporate entity at Wilmington in the State of Delaware with a capital of five million dollars. Its objective was the production and sale of sugar and other related goods in Haiti and in the United States.  The founders were  Chs. Steinheim, John A. Christie and Franck Corpay.  HASCO is one of the major Haitian industries with a high level of employment. 

August 8

An explosion at three o’clock in the morning destroys the National Palace and kills President Cincinnatus Leconte and three hundred soldiers.  The same day, the Constituent Assembly appoints General Tancrete Auguste President of Haiti.
